Our client,TAFTA is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 002093) dedicated to serving the needs of Durban's elderly residents. Providing suitable accommodation, including frail care, is the greatest challenge. TAFTA owns 14 buildings for this purpose, and provides support services, such as Meals on Wheels and Home Based Care, to enable older persons to continue living in their own homes. Seniors' quality of life is also of paramount importance; opportunities for social interaction, entertainment and activities are offered through our clubs and Service Centres. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the organisation’s day-to-day financial operation and coordinates the actions of the accounting and finance departments to ensure that the entire organisation meets its fiscal responsibilities according to established objectives. The Chief Financial Officer’s duties include: supervising the compilation and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and reports reporting of the financial position to Exco and Council liaising with the Auditors to ensure their task is made easy Assisting in developing and pursuing positive business ventures in cooperation with Tafta Biz developing and implementing strong internal controls ensuring all financial risks are identified and relevant strategies implemented to minimise the risk ensuring all assets of the organisation are correctly accounted for and insured against risks setting up and monitoring internal audits developing strategies for internal growth helping grow the accounting skills of the department through mentorship and training effectively manage the revenue and expenses of the organisation working in close cooperation with the Chief Executive Officer to create plans and opportunities for the maximum benefit of the organisation Helping to set and direct the organisation’s financial goals, objectives and budgets overseeing the investment of funds held by the organisation, weighing up and managing associated risks supervising cash management activities and executing capital-raising strategies to support the organisation’s operations and growth Tafta is a benevolent society and whilst skills in an NGO environment are an advantage it is not an impediment to the position. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant with at least 5 years post qualifying work experience.
