Emergency Controller - Relief Duty


An exciting vacancy has become available for an Emergency Controller - Relief Duty based in the Modderfontein area for a client in the mining industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Dealing with any type of emergency related to Explosives and Chemicals manufacture
  • Auditing the Security Contractor’s performance and reporting such to management for action
  • On-going liaison with and training on the various plants in order to understand the functions and dangers inherent to each
  • Be physically involved with the SES safety effort and ensure that safety receives top priority throughout the factory
  • Foster open constructive dialogue with supporting services such as Fire Department, SAPS, Ambulances and Hospitals
  • Liaison with customers, suppliers, contractors during the course of duty
  • Decision making and the enforcement of Company rules and regulations at all times
  • Relevant emergency and security certificates
  • 1 – 2  years’ experience of the operations at an Explosives and Chemical manufacturing site
  • Reasonable knowledge of SHE issues and related legislation
  • A recognised safety qualification would be advantageous
  • Proven track record within a chemical environment as well as knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e. National Key Point Act, Explosives Act, Criminal Procedure Act etc.
  • A military / security / police background preferable
  • Computer literacy essential
  • The candidate will need to be physically fit and have no criminal record
  • Firearm competent
