Our client, a major mining concern based in Africa would like to consider applications for their operations in the south of Democratic Republic of the Congo (safe area).  Single status with a two year contract Fly-in-fly-out position.  Reports To: General Manager Development & Managing Director.  Accountability Objective The Project Manager is accountable for developing feasibility studies and executing approved company projects to ensure that the developments are completed in accordance with the business case and the approved scope schedule and budget by directing, planning and coordinating all project activities.   REQUIREMENTS: Degree in Engineering or related field and ten (10) years of project management experience in a tier 1 or 2 mining company project managing greenfields and/or brownfields mining industry projects. Certified Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP) (highly desirable) Demonstrated knowledge and experience to develop project budgets in accordance with requirements of the American Association of Cost Engineers. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management, project controls, engineering management, procurement and constructs, construction management and commissioning. Demonstrated knowledge and experience facilitating risk workshops and developing risk management plans. Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and interpret metallurgical literature, technical data and manuals, material safety data sheets and utilise information to improve process, prevent loss or minimise risk. Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing EPCM, EPC and principle contractors. Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing health, safety, environment and community relations. Ability and experience making project presentations to project steering committees, contactors, communities and government representatives. People oriented and results driven Demonstrable experience with mining metrics Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills Competency to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company Experience working in a developing country (highly desirable) Fluency in English (essential), French (highly desirable)   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Completing projects feasibility studies defining scope schedule and budget in accordance with the company’s project management guidelines and investment criteria. Preparing and implementing the Project Execution Plan Ensuring an achievable schedule is set and maintained for the project Authorise commitments and expenditures in accordance with the approved budget, within authority levels, and control costs within budget limits Selecting and recommending Owner’s Project Team staff necessary to perform the work. Leading and managing the Owner’s Project Team by clearly defining expectations of the Team’s roles and responsibilities, training and mentoring direct reports, and ensure direct reports are trained, on what is needed to do their jobs safely and effectively. Ensuring fair and consistent treatment of all individuals by addressing performance issues with personnel and hold them accountable to expectations jointly agreed to, and have direct reports do the same. Selecting and recommending the engagement of the consultants and contractors necessary to complete the allocated tasks. Ensuring quality assurance, safety, environmental, human resource and employee relations programs are established and maintained by all parties. Providing direction and review the performance of the study and implementation contractor’s team. Ensuring accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the project. Pre-commissioning and commissioning the facilities and infrastructure, and provide support to the Operations Manager during start up. Handing over facilities, support services and staff as appropriate. Promoting and leading continuous practices, managing change and assessing risks, actively pursuing methods to reduce risks, and continually investigate and implement ways to improve the effectiveness of the Owner’s Team implementing best practice. Two year contract fly-in-fly-out position in the mining sector in the south of Democratic Republic of the Congo (safe area).  Single status position with a six day working week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualified Trade Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Electric Fitter/Millwright) Machine technical knowledge and skills on servicing and repairing a fleet of Open Pit mobile equipment is essential – CAT, Liebherr and Bell Equipment. Sound interpersonal and communication skills Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR’s) and Technical Analysis Reports (TA’s) Basic technical report writing Some Computer Literacy Trouble shooting and problem solving skills Applicable product knowledge Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Quickly and efficiently diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs, services and maintenance on Mobile Mining equipment Ensure safe work practices Control Contamination Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.) Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained Ensure 100% uptime of mobile equipment   COMPENSATION:  The level of compensation that will finally be agreed upon, will depend on the characteristics and experience of the chosen executive, and will be determined through direct negotiation between the candidate and the company.  Remuneration will recognize the fact that this position will be an expatriate position.   Do not send any certificates with your application. Our client with their operations based in Central America is in n urgent need for a Spanish speaking Mining Operations Manager in a permanent role to head up the mining department which includes shaft, geology, survey and operations in a trackless environment.  It’s a zinc mine producing 2000tpd (plus 1000tpd development waste) and to take it up to 3000tpd in the next 18 months.  Start date:  Urgent.  Essential:  Must be able to speak Spanish fluently.  REQUIREMENTS: Bsc Mining Degree or equivalent. At least 10 years experience in a senior mining role in underground. Extensive underground mining experience in a trackless mining environment Proven experience to manage and direct the operations with regards to Shafts, Geology Survey, Ventilation and Rock Mechanics. Needs to have the ability to operate in a culturally sensitive environment and train and guide local employees.
